Hotel Stein

By the time the shouts of Jedermann echo through the streets of Salzburg, it is clear that the festival summer has begun. While the Ouverture Spirituelle provides the classical prelude, Don Giovanni seduces his Zerlina and Herbert Blomstedt, almost 100 years old, is ready to conduct the Philharmonic Orchestra, the city itself once again becomes a stage. Here people stroll, discuss, shop and laugh… The Hotel Stein has always been one of the venues.

The Stein-terrace

Have you ever been to the famous Steinterrasse after a performance and admired the illuminated city from above, with a drink in your hand and a tune or two in your head? Then perhaps you should do so soon! “There’s something special about it,” says Margot Weindorfer, director of the hotel. “It would be something for the bucket list,” we say. The terrace is not just a hot spot, it’s an institution. There is probably no better place to enjoy the special flair of the city during the festival season.

The Stein-location

One of the reasons why the hotel is also ideal for a stay in Salzburg during Salzburger Festspiele is that the stages are within walking distance. It takes eight minutes to get to the Großes Festspielhaus, for example. The path across the Salzach leads through the famous Getreidegasse past Mozart’s birthplace. If you consider a visit to the restaurant of the partner hotel Goldgasse, you can even dine within sight of the Cathedral Square, where Jedermann is performed every year.

The Stein-cosmetics

If you continue walking through the old town, you may also come across the Saint Charles Apothecary Store, where you might recognise the Hotel Stein‘s house and court cosmetics. After all, the bathrooms in the suites are stocked with care products from the Wild Roots range. If you would like to take this particularly good-smelling Hotel Stein feeling home with you, you can also purchase the natural cosmetics, which smell of rosemary, orange and lemon, in the hotel’s own concept store.

The Stein-photographer

Speaking of souvenirs. You could also purchase a piece of the Festival summer in the form of Luigi Caputo‘s illustrated book. The Roman photographer, who is omnipresent in the Hotel Stein with his pictures, has captured the artists of the Salzburg Festival in photographs, capturing emotional moments of costume rehearsals and flights of fancy on stage.
