Futura Laboratories x Marc Jacobs: where art meets fashion

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of MARC JACOBS, the renowned artist has designed a limited capsule collection together with MARC JACOBS.

Futura Laboratories is not just a design studio, but a lifestyle brand born from the creative vision of renowned artist Leonard Hilton McGurr, better known as Futura. Futura began his career in the late 1970s as a graffiti artist in New York and quickly became known for his unique abstract style, which stood out from traditional street art. His innovative use of shapes and colours brought him international recognition and made him a pioneer in the combination of street art and contemporary art.

In 1997, Futura founded Futura Laboratories to apply its artistic vision to fashion, accessories and design. The brand combines Futura’s signature abstract art with urban aesthetics and a touch of futuristic design. Each Futura Laboratories product is a tribute to its roots in street art and at the same time an expression of modern subculture. It is a platform that fuses art and fashion.

Collaborations with fashion brands

Futura Laboratories has realised numerous collaborations with renowned fashion brands in recent decades. Its partnerships with streetwear giants such as Supreme, Nike, Off-White and The North Face are particularly outstanding. Each collaboration shows how Futura’s art takes on a new form in the fashion context, be it through limited sneaker editions or jackets with his famous hand-painted graphics.

One of the most famous collaborations was with Nike, where Futura immortalised his art on sneakers such as the Air Force 1. Collaborations with Virgil Abloh’s Off-White also resulted in products that caused a stir in both the art and fashion scenes. Futura has managed to bring its graffiti roots into the world of high fashion without losing the rebellious spirit of its beginnings.
