Clayground Retreat: Creativity, Mindfulness, and Nature in Tuscany

A Place to Breathe and Experience

Nestled in the rolling hills of Tuscany, surrounded by cypress trees and olive groves, lies Villa Giuncheto – a sanctuary of tranquility and inspiration. Here, the Clayground Retreat takes place, offering a unique experience that blends art, mindfulness, and nature. Artists Anna Riess and Fira Rietveld have developed a concept that unites the creative process with a deep connection to the earth. The goal is not to create a perfect piece of art, but to fully experience the moment – with hands, heart, and all the senses.

Creative Expression with Clay

At the heart of the retreat is working with clay – a medium that grounds, calms, and nurtures intuition. Participants are encouraged to explore the material, embrace imperfections, and view the creative process as a meditative practice. Rather than striving for perfection, the focus is on connecting with the present moment and accessing the inner self through hands-on creation.

Mindfulness Through Movement and Sound

The retreat is complemented by a diverse program centered on mindfulness and body awareness. Alexa Valentin, yoga teacher and sound practitioner, guides participants through gentle yoga sessions, Human Design workshops, and soothing sound baths. Mornings begin with fluid movements and meditation, preparing the body and mind for the day. In the evenings, sound baths with healing frequencies provide deep relaxation and help release daily stress.

Culinary Delights and a Connection to Nature

Food plays an essential role in the retreat: Villa Giuncheto’s vegetarian cuisine is based on fresh, regional ingredients, celebrating the flavors of Tuscany. Every meal is prepared with love and serves as a reminder that mindful eating is an integral part of overall well-being.

Immersive Nature Experiences in Tuscany

Beyond the creative and meditative elements, the retreat offers additional sensory experiences. A visit to the region’s natural hot springs invites participants to immerse themselves in relaxation, while walks through the villa’s olive groves allow the mind to clear amid the scent of nature and the vastness of the landscape. Every moment becomes an opportunity to reconnect with oneself and the natural world.

A Space for Inspiration and Renewal

The Clayground Retreat is more than just a creative workshop – it is a journey of self-discovery. In the peaceful Tuscan countryside, a space is created for reflection, creativity, and renewal. Here, the process matters more than the outcome. This is where body, mind, and soul can find true rest. And for those who have ever sat beneath Tuscany’s expansive starry sky, it is clear: these are the moments that stay with you forever.
