In „Down In The Basement“ geht es um künstlerisches Wachstum und darum, den eigenen Wurzeln treu zu bleiben. Man kann den Künstler aus dem Underground herausholen, aber man kann den Underground nicht aus dem Künstler herausholen. Da Catnapp jetzt öfter auf großen Bühnen spielt als in düsteren Kellerclubs, geht sie die schönen Widersprüche an, wenn man seinen eigenen Weg geht.

Catnapp, bürgerlich Amparo Battaglia, ist eine argentinische Produzentin und Sängerin, die seit 2010 unter diesem Pseudonym Musik macht. Sie verbindet dabei Elemente aus R&B, Rap, Breakbeat, Pop und Drum & Bass.
Für die Musik ist sie von Argentinien nach Berlin gezogen. Aufgrund der wirtschaftlichen Situation in Argentinien wird dort, ihrer Aussage nach, vornehmlich in KünstlerInnen investiert, die auch finanziellen Erfolg versprechen. Experimentelle Künstlerinnen wie Catnapp, die zudem nicht in der Landessprache sondern auf Englisch singt, haben es daher schwerer, zu wachsen und sich weiterzuentwickeln.
