From March 28 to 30, 2025, Hong Kong will once again become a global hub for contemporary art. Art Basel Hong Kong will bring together 240 galleries from 42 countries, showcasing an impressive program of large-scale installations, thematic exhibitions, film screenings, and inspiring discussions.

Art Basel Hong Kong unites 240 galleries from 42 countries
With 23 new exhibitors and a strong presence of galleries from the Asia-Pacific region, Art Basel Hong Kong is a major meeting point for the global art scene. In addition to the main exhibitions, Art Basel offers an extensive program featuring film screenings, conversations, and offsite events.

Encounters: Large-Scale Installations
Curated by Alexie Glass-Kantor, the “Encounters” sector presents 18 immersive works, 14 of which are created specifically for the fair. Highlights:
- Pacita Abad: Monumental paintings inspired by iconographies of the Global South.
- Christopher K. Ho: Modern bronze sculptures exploring abstraction and materiality.
- Lu Yang: Digital art project featuring an interactive pop-up store.
- Monster Chetwynd: Sculpture-performance at Pacific Place Park Court.

Kabinett: Curated Solo and Thematic Presentations
38 galleries will present works with a strong focus on artistic positions from Asia.
Highlights:
- Martin Wong: Ceramic and painting series from the 1960s/70s.
- Takahiro Kondo: Masterful ceramics using the patented “Silver Mist” technique.
- Pei Yanqing: Paintings in muted indigo tones depicting dreamlike motifs.

MGM Discoveries Art Prize
This award supports emerging talents with a prize of USD 50,000.

Film Program & Conversations
Curated by Para Site, the film program features seven screenings with works by 30 artists.
Highlights:
- Vampires in Space (2022) by Isadora Neves Marques.
- ANG48 (2022) by Chulayarnnon Siriphol.
- Corpo Fechado (2018) by Carlos Motta.

The Conversations series explores topics such as art and AI, Southeast Asian art patronage, and the connection between art, design, and architecture.
