The Spring-Summer 2025 campaign by Louis Vuitton merges fashion and art in a unique composition. House ambassadors Saoirse Ronan and Lisa are portrayed as contemporary figures within the atmospheric paintings of French conceptual artist Laurent Grasso.
Photographed by Steven Meisel, the campaign continues the creative vision of Nicolas Ghesquière, the Artistic Director of Women’s Collections. His latest runway collection culminated in three intricately crafted looks inspired by Grasso’s visionary landscapes, featuring floating spheres and blazing torches.
Studies into the Past
For the campaign, three new works were created from the series Studies into the Past, introducing another surrealist element: the black rectangle. This geometric form alters the boundaries of an untouched, pristine nature, cutting through the scenery while Saoirse Ronan and Lisa exude a confident warmth. Dressed in striking looks from the collection, the two internationally acclaimed talents merge seamlessly into these enigmatic yet hyper-realistic compositions. Close-up portraits evoke Renaissance compositions, while full-body shots capture them in fine movement—classical yet dynamic.
Saoirse Ronan
Four-time Academy Award nominee Saoirse Ronan gained international recognition at just 13 years old for her role in Atonement, which earned her BAFTA and Oscar nominations. Her recent projects include Blitz, the historical drama by Steve McQueen, as well as The Outrun, based on the bestselling memoir by Amy Liptrot, which she also produced. With performances in Little Women, Lady Bird, and Brooklyn, she has solidified her status as one of the leading actresses of her generation.
Lisa
Lisa, a member of the globally successful South Korean girl group Blackpink, has also established herself as a solo artist. Her second single, Money, became the first K-pop solo track to surpass one billion streams on Spotify. Most recently, she released a series of new songs, including Moonlit Floor, a reinterpretation of the 90s pop hit Kiss Me . Expanding her creative repertoire, she will make her acting debut in The White Lotus Season 3, set in Thailand.
A Fascination with the Blurring of Time
Laurent Grasso’s Studies into the Past, painted in oil on wood and inspired by historical techniques, blends classical imagery with a sci-fi-like atmosphere. The works reflect Nicolas Ghesquière’s ongoing fascination with the blurring of time—a creative interplay between past, present, and future.
Steven Meisel captures both the mysterious and realistic aspects of Grasso’s paintings, enhancing their painterly qualities through his lens. In this unique setting, Saoirse Ronan and Lisa embody a modern, captivating femininity—one that is redefined through the aesthetic of Louis Vuitton.
