Today we breathe in the scent of the South Tyrolean forests and open door number 12 to the Blaslahof, which has been transformed over the years from a farm into an organic retreat. The historic main building with its rustic barn has been extended to include designer chalets that are close to nature and you could soon be spending three nights in one of these.
12th december – PLAY & WIN NOW!
As you are, so are your buildings, as the American architect Louis Sullivan once said. If you look at the Blaslahof, with its warm, lively atmosphere, natural architecture and respectful approach to history, then your hosts must be likeable people. Martin and Iris Steger have taken over the farm from their ancestors and breathe a lot of naturalness, down-to-earthness and warmth into the place. Or is it the other way round? Quite possibly, because a building also has an effect on us humans.
Guests will feel it when they visit the Blaslahof in South Tyrol. The surroundings alone invite you to slow down. The tranquillity and energy of the valley, the murmur of the mountain stream, the scent of meadow flowers, spruce and larch trees and the view of the mountains have a special effect that is also reflected in the buildings. In the farmhouse, the barn and the chalets, it feels as if the outside has been brought inside.
Wood has annual rings and stores time within itself.
Architect Martin Gruber
A highly poetic property for a building material.
The forest air is still in the walls today, they say. When selecting the wood for the chalets, larch, pine and spruce were sourced from the surrounding area and even felled at the right moon phase a year before construction began. It was then joined together without glue to create a mountain crystal-like ensemble of several chalet houses.
These complement the mighty main house with its lovingly furnished holiday flats and the barn with its rustic country-style rooms. The wellness area reflects the philosophy of the Refugium and is more than just a pool and sauna. At the chlorine-free and and oxygen-enriched indoor pool tree houses provide peaceful moments. And the power of mountain herbs can be enjoyed in the sauna. And you won’t find more nature than in the hay bath anywhere else.
One thing was particularly important to us: the big project should reflect Blaslas itself: simple, lively, with a cheerful aura and loving charm.
