Little Greene is introducing the new “double drenching” method, making it possible to effectively transform living spaces with powerful colours.
Colour drenching, i.e. the “soaking” of a room with a colour, is an impressive alternative to the traditional use of paint. In addition to the walls, the ceiling, wood panelling and skirting boards are also included in the design.
Little Greene is now introducing the technique of “double drenching”, in which related colours are used to achieve an even greater “wow effect”. This technique combines colours that are traditionally rarely used in the same scheme.
Typically, tonal variations of a colour are used to create a harmonious appearance, such as three different shades of the same colour on walls, wood panelling and ceilings. Double drenching varies the hue rather than the strength, i.e. the different colours have the same intensity and can come from the same colour family, but they have different undertones. For example, a bluish green can be used alongside a yellowish green on different levels within a room.
On the Little Greene “Colours of England” colour chart, the colours that lend themselves to the “double drenching” trend are placed next to each other: “Hopper” is next to “Citrine”, “Mid Azure Green” next to “Deep Space Blue” and “Tivoli” next to “Blue Verditer” and “Woad”.
With the Intelligent Paints from Little Greene, which are suitable for a wide variety of surfaces, the method of “colour drenching” and “double drenching” can now be implemented even more easily and economically, as it is now possible to paint almost any surface with a single can without the need for a primer.
