Louis Vuitton proudly launches the Spring 2024 capsule collection for men in collaboration with Tyler, The Creator. As an extension of Pharrell Williams’ vision at the Maison, the creative director invites his long-time friend Tyler, The Creator to conceptualise his own designs for the Maison.
Exercising Louis Vuitton´s historic savoir-faire through the artist’s distinctive creative lens, the collection serves as a demonstration of the LVERS community: a global artistic network united by an appreciation for craftsmanship.
While the collaboration builds on the existing relationship between Louis Vuitton and Tyler, The Creator, who most recently composed the soundtrack for the Autumn/Winter 2022 fashion show, the collection stages an instinctive union between the visual universes of Tyler, The Creator and the Maison: a fusion of the signature elegance popularised by the artist with the Dandy-Style, established by Pharrell Williams at Louis Vuitton.
The elegance is evident in silhouettes, while the fusion of Tyler, The Creator’s iconography with that of Louis Vuitton is epitomised by the new Craggy Monogram, hand-drawn by the artist. In chocolate, vanilla and pastel tones, the Craggy Monogram is reminiscent of the creamy colours and fluid textures found in patisserie. Within the LV Flowers are depictions of daisies and Airedale Terriers, both recurring motifs in the artist’s visual universe.
The Craggy Monogram appears in elegant interpretations such as a down jacket, a windbreaker, a denim jacket with matching denim trousers and dungarees. A mackintosh incorporates details of the Maison’s iconic trunks, while a leather college jacket is embroidered with a floral logo. Classic chinos and shorts appear alongside graphic shirts. Reversible windbreakers, technical anoraks and zip cardigans appear in Damier and are inspired by golf.
The grass green damier pattern has been applied to the Maison’s iconic bags, which are embellished with pink flower charms and an Airedale Terrier motif lining. These include the Sac Golf and the Mini Crossbody Golf bag, while a travelling chessboard with chess pieces hand-drawn by Tyler, The Creator is reminiscent of melted chocolate. The Craggy Monogram also appears on belts and other Louis Vuitton bags, including a Sac Chien dog carrier and a special Courrier Lozine 110 suitcase.
The motif also revitalises five new bag shapes: the Envelope Messenger, the Envelope WW and the Envelope Pouch, as well as the Rush Bumbag and a dog-shaped crossbody bag. A keepall and bag organiser appear in light blue Epi XL leather, while other bag accessories include an Éclair-shaped pouch with a chocolate brown icing LV logo.
The LV Dandy loafers have been reinterpreted in embossed Monogram leather with craggy stitching. The LV Waves Derby boots appear in a baby blue or pink embossed Monogram nubuck leather. The LV Waffle sandals mimic the dessert they are named after and are available in chocolate and pistachio coloured leather. The LV Flower sandals are embellished with icing-like Louis Vuitton letters.
Caps, bucket hats and scarves match the collection’s graphics. Fashion jewellery includes oversized gold metal necklaces with colourful cubic zirconia stones, matching rings and necklaces and bracelets embellished with Craggy Monogram metal links.
The Monogram Tribute sunglasses come in pink, tortoiseshell and black. The collection also includes a range of unique accessories, from a Craggy Monogram breakfast bowl with matching spoon to golf accessories and towels.
