The recently opened small eco-hotel Son Fogueró on Mallorca pursues a clear mission: to enable holistic detox. The combination of design, art and health is extremely conducive to this.
The twelve rooms have names like “Harmony”, “Serenity”, “Flow”, “Love” or “Gratitude” and “Kindness”. In the newly opened eco-hotel Son Fogueró in Mallorca, everything serves to delight the senses and at the same time find the reset button.
Son Fogueró: Holistic retreat
It is one of the newest international holistic retreats for those who want a comprehensive detox – with healthy food, yoga, silence, harmony … and exquisite design, of course.
The Balearic island is actually always in season. Even in winter, when the average temperatures of around 14 degrees are not crazy high, the climate is still friendlier than damp, clammy foggy weather or freezing cold in most other European countries. Not only party or Ballermann attract the mostly German-speaking vacationers to the island of Mallorca: important motives are also landscape and nature.
As far as the surroundings are concerned, Son Fogueró is truly privileged: The small country house is located in a dreamlike quiet solitary location in the heart of Mallorca. The Spanish island in the western Mediterranean is a natural paradise. As early as January, it transforms into a huge flower-filled garden.
Historical finca with traditional architecture
The small village of Maria de la Salut, near which the historic finca is located, is about 35 kilometers from the capital Palma de Mallorca. The exquisite eco-hotel features the traditional rustic limestone walls as well as flat tiled roofs. The paradisiacal green courtyard is fragrant with jacaranda trees, oleander and bougainvillea.
The finca covers 15 hectares and is surrounded by wide fields. The nearest larger village, Sineu, which was named one of the most beautiful places in the world, can be found about four kilometers away. The nearest beaches are about 15 kilometers away.
“Unbeatable double”
The old Mallorcan family business from the turn of the century has been lovingly restored by the owners, a designer and a doctor. With this “unbeatable double” can hardly get any other result: They interwove their lifestyles and work to create this project. It focuses equally on design, art and health and goes far beyond the usual tourist offer.
The design was developed by hotel owner David Jofra, founder of the international furniture house Dareels, and his team.
Mediterranean minimalist with eco furniture
The twelve rooms and suites are Mediterranean minimalist in style. Modern designer furniture made of natural materials emphasizes the historic structure of the house with its exposed stone walls and wooden ceilings. The furniture is made from recycled teak, natural fibers, and organic and recycled fabrics. Modern artwork and stylish accessories add accents.
The rooms have names like “Gratitude”, “Harmony” or “Love”. The twelve rooms and suites are themselves designed like unique works of art
With 22 square meters even the smallest room is spacious, the largest suite offers plenty of room with 102 square meters. All suites and also some of the rooms have their own terrace.
The twelve rooms, which are themselves designed like unique works of art, are connected by common areas. In the living room, a large fireplace invites guests to linger, and the piano is waiting to be played by amateur pianists. There is a summer dining room, and among the extensive gardens is the swimming pool complete with spa bar. Other facilities include an additional lounge and the obligatory yoga room.
The holistic health advice is led by the second owner of the hotel, Inés Alemany. Meat-, sugar-, gluten- and dairy-free food is offered, with the possibility of choosing anti-inflammatory dishes as well.
In terms of common areas, there is a living room with fireplace and piano… … furthermore a summer dining room and of course a yoga room. The bathrooms are also very tastefully decorated. The design was developed by hotel owner David Jofra, founder of the international furniture house Dareels, and his team.
Detox-Kost
The menu includes hummus (pureed chickpeas) with spinach, chlorella and toasted almonds, or buckwheat crepes with romesco sauce, vegetables and poached egg, or with béchamel sauce made from cashew mousse, sautéed mushrooms and marinated tofu.
Retreat hotels strongly on the rise
In any case, the Adults-Only Boutique Hotel is well on its way to becoming a reference for holistic “retreats“. This type of hotel industry with corresponding offers is on an upward trend on the Balearic Islands. This will undoubtedly intensify. Son Fogueró will find its imitators.
